can I use brown rice as a substrate just brown rice no perlite. Technically yes. But adding vermiculite to the brf will help maintain moisture. Perlite is only used to help with humidity in a fruiting chamber. I'd recommend making brf/verm in a Mason jar and shooting spores onto it. Then use a plastic bag ivee the jar lid for fruiting.
